Tiny: A Story About Living Small (2013)Tiny: A Story About Living Small (2013)

What is a house? A home? Why do people stay in jobs they don't like, to buy a house they don't need, with a mortgage they can't afford? How much space and stuff do you need to be happy? Have you ever thought about cultivating a lifestyle of humility, gratitude and modesty? Why is it that since 1870 the average size of a house has doubled even though the average size of families has gotten smaller? These and many other important questions are part of this one-hour documentary film about the "tiny house" movement. The movement quibbles about the definition of a "tiny" house, but most people agree it means a maximum of 200 square feet. This film follows one young couple with no money, no construction experience, and no blue print, that built their tiny house. The narrative back fills with other people committed to the movement and the lifestyle, including some leaders like Jay Shafer, founder of Tumbleweed Tiny House, and Kent Griswold, founder of the Tiny House Blog (15,000 unique visitors a day!). Welcome to the world of extreme down sizing. Think about it!
